In ACL language, how to remove line breaks in a characters string?
I try this command:
gsub("\r\n", "", $x);
But it doesn't work.
Can you help me?
We are Isodraw isers and have no idea what Arbortext is or what it does. It is really difficult picking through posts in this forum trying to work out whether they are relevant to us or not. I think they should be split into 2 areas - can still be under the Arbortext banner, but keep Isodraw posts separate from Arbortext ones. In the past, Isodraw and Isodraw macros each had their own sections. What do other people think?
Sorry for the very basic question. I am trying to figure out how to globally remove a markup xml tag/element from our documents. The find and replace feature doesn't seem to be able to do it. It can only find and replace text. And the comand line and edit features will only allow me to delete markup one at a time.
I cannot even seem to figure out a way to search for specific tags.
Can anyone help me? Thank you!
Dina
I am working with simple illustrations and I am trying to batch hotspot the index callouts. I recorded a hotspotting macro but when I try to run that macro in a batch it does not work, but I can run the macro in a single illustration and it works just fine. Here is the macro text..
Macro HotSpot
Select if Type is equal to 'text'
Create hotspots 256 numbers_only convert_spaces
End Macro
Also when the batch is done I do not get any errors.
I will attach one of my illustrations and the ism file.
Any help would be greatly appericated!
Arbortext Community,
I am having an issue with isoview on a specific computer. The aircraft maintenance manuals we use use arbortext isoview to display the wiring diagrams. on this one computer, the wiring diagrams on the print outs are fuzz/illegible. It's only on this one computer, and it doesn't matter to which printer I print to. I've uninstalled and reinstalled our copy of isoview as well, but to no avail. Is there anything else that might help?
Thanks,
Travis
The preferences have been set so that "auto save" runs every 10 minutes. Can anyone tell me where these files are being saved? Which folder? I'm trying to retrieve the files after Arbortext crashed.
I thought that these files would be saved in the folder called users\... \AppData\local\PTC\Arbortext\Editor\.aptcache.
Thanks
Hello,
I am looking for a way to aligh contents which are in a cascade in Arbortext Editor, but I would like to aligh them in a row with Arbortext Styler to utilise the space of the page.
Can anyone give me a way to do this?
Thank you very much.
Tomomi
When publishing we are having the issue with some of our output that the heading and a line or two of the short description are on the bottom of the page instead of being pushed to the top of the next page with its content. I expect the change I need to make is in styler, Which element or elements would I need to change. I think the issue is mostly with the formating of topics. To I need to adjust the keeps for the topic element, or title in topic element?
Thanks
Bryon
Hello every one,
Until today I did not have to use footnotes in my documentation and I have an issue. I used the <fn> tag to create my footnote and inserted the content as below with an ID. But in my PDF I do not have a footnote at the bottom of the page, I only get the small 1 beside the text.
Does anybody have a clue about what I did wrong? I am trying to find the way to insert the footnote automatically in the footer, but I can not find it.
Thanks,
Has anyone encountered this error message? We are running Arbortext Editor 6.0. which is integrated with Windchill 10.1. User is trying to check in an xml document.
Hello,
I am working on my stylesheet with Arbortext Styler and it displays the following error message:
C:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\doctypes\xhtml\xhtml.dtd
ERREUR Line: 30 Column: 11 Could not open file: http://www.w3.org/TR/xhtml1/DTD/xhtml-lat1.ent
I tried to get the file linked and I managed to download it without trouble... I do not understand what is not working, could someone give me a hand please?
We are using AE 6.0 with Windchill. When we open an xml document in AE 6.0 we notice that the cursor will randomly jump from one location in the document to another. Has anyone else encountered this? If so, can provide the cause and possible a fix?
It is very annoying when cutting and pasting from other docs into AE 6.0. The users must be careful not to paste content where it does not belong.
Note: Could this have anything to do with the automatic "save" in AE 6.0.?
Hi,
I'm using AAD. Does anyone know how to use Publisher to enter the content seen in the Fig 1 Layout - Title Page of the S1000D spec? I see no obvious way of editing all these values in the Publisher in a way that relates to the code in the spec, such as <pmTitle>. I couldn't find a reference to this in the help files.
I"m also stumped by the Publishing Issue\Preferences\Publishing Project - Introduction tab. What XML is valid to load here?
Also, in the Company Information Tab you can load a 24 pixel high graphic, but in my output the result is stretched. What are the correct image dimensions? Even if you do enter the company information it does not appear on the first page of the PDF publication so I can't see how entering this information relates to the cover of PDF output.

So, I have setup our instance of Arbortext Content Manager and we are just testing all the features of the application out. We keep getting an error when we go to upload documents to the folder area. Here is the error.
An exception occurred in the JS API browseForFile().
Error name: TypeError.
Error message: fileSelectionApplet.getTargetApplet is not a function.
I dont know Java so I am not sure what is going on exactly here. Any help someone can provide is greatly appreciated. We are using ACM 10.0 Datecode F000 by the way.
Thanks,
Jamie
I'm trying to create a batch file to export an .xml to a .html file.
In Arbortext Editor 6.0 M100 there's a feature that allows you to export a file to .htm
File->Save as HTML
In a batch file I simply used:
"editor.exe" -c "FileSaveAsHTML" "file.xml"
It essentially opens the xml file and a dialog appears to save as an html file.
Is there a way to have this command in silent mode that allows the file to save?
Using the argument "-b" doesn't allow overwrites, which I think the dialog is messing up.
Is there another way to go about doing this? Perhaps a macro would be used instead?
Any suggestions are welcomed.
When using Arbortext Editor 6.0 eith Styler, trying to 'print preview' a document returns error code [A30081] Preview: Graphics path too long?
I do see the preview, the graphics are there. but the event log shows this:

ERROR Failure post-processing for composer type pdf.
FATAL ERROR Operation terminated.

Problem:
I noticed that when I cut and "Paste Excel" my table appears in my S1000D document but the cells are empty. The reason for this is that not all of the markup is supplied during the "Paste Excel" function. Since the content is not valid it does not appear. The content of each cell is not wrapped with <para> tags.
Workaround:
1. Turn off Context Rules, Menu: Tools/Context Rules to uncheck Context Checking temporarily, you will receive a warning.
Now because Context Rules are off you can paste anything you want into the document at any positon. Choose a valid location you know that will accept your table markup when you validate later.
2. Menu: Edit\Paste Excel, check or uncheck the boxes you need, and select how many rows are title rows, click OK.
The content of the entire table will be pasted into the S1000D document. You should see all of the content for each of the cells. Because Context Rules are turned off the document is invalid. The easiest way to insert markup is to select the content of the rows for the table, and Menu: Insert Markup, choose "para" from the Insert Markup window list.
Note that you get the entire list of markup so you will have to search through it and knowing what markup is valid at the point of selection is important. You may wish to enter note markup for example around some of your text.
3. With the markup applied to the table you may click the green arrow to validate the document, or choose Menu: Tools/Context Rules to check and turn on Context Rules. If you have made an error somewhere it will be flagged, i.e. you will receive a warning and be prompted to fix it.
Tip - It is important to make sure that your xml is valid and Context Rules are on before further editing of your document.
Tip - With regard to the above process most of the time I simply apply para markup to the table and that is sufficient for most of my needs. With Context Rules back on and a valid document I then edit the table further to modify the markup or apply emphasis and other markup.
