Changing version of IsoDraw file?
Dear all,
Is there any method to change the version of an isodraw file so that it an higher version file can be opened in the lower version.
For example: We have fewer IsoDraw 7 versions and more of IsoDraw 6.1. Whenever illustrations saved in Ver. 7.0 need to be worked on in 6.1, we have to go to the 7.0 system and save as it to 6.0. It is very time consuming.
I wanted to know whether any of you can help me out, like is there any way we can tweak the Ver7.0 file in notepad so that it opens in Ver 6.0.

Arbortext 5.3 M100 to 6.0 M040
I've recently upgraded Arbortext Editor from 5.3 M100 to 6.0 M040. We author SGML documents.
Couple of issues that I am encountering:
- Hitting the Enter button after a tag does not show the "Quick Tags." The preference "Show Quick Tags on Enter" in Tools > Preferences > Edit is checked. From Advanced, the "quicktags" preference is set to "On"
- Unable to use the mouse scroll button to scroll up and down the document.
- "Newline" breaks are appearing everywhere in the document. In the 5.3 version these breaks were not present. Any way to remove these in 6.0? It causes problems with our publishing system. Also, 6.0 allows you to use the "Enter" button and add multiple spaces. Can this feature be disabled?
Any help/advice will be greatly appreciate!

I noticed that the content of the techName element comes from a particular place in the SNS, for example if I am at 34-50-10-00 the name of the last position in the SNS, the 00 is the techname which appears both in the XML and in my PDF (printed document). It is important to get this right from the beginning because when you create your Data Modules (information code 030 for example) This <techName> element content is populated automatically from the SNS.
I noticed that if you revise the SNS and change the name of 00 all new modules will have the new name, but one that was created previously, cannot have the techName changed, not even manually. I discovered after making manual changes that matched my new techName the content of the data module reverted back to the one it had when the data module was first created. In other words, after I saved to CSDB, closed, and re-opened the data module the original content of techName was back.
This is something a many a writer likes to change on the fly. So, planning up-front is necessary! Making the writer understand they have to commit to a techName at the outset is often difficult because they are used to word processing where they can do pretty much what they like.

Segment Violation Errors
Hi Folks,
We have been using Arbortext as a publishing tool for almost a year now. So far we have not had too many issues we haven't been able to overcome. Typically our documents are between 50 - 200 rendered pages and contain images, lists, cross references, and often many tables.
From time to time, I get complaints from users indicating that after rendering documents multiple times, they get segment violations and Arbortext closes. The work around is to restart and keep going.
It seems that the more complex the tables get (cell spanning) the more likely we have issues. For fun, I took a document and copied the content many times over to see what would happen when we have a larger document - the result is Arbortext will just crash about 330 pages or so into rendering. From a system perspective, I can see memory usage climb (x32 version here) to just over 1.1 GB before the crash. The error I commonly see is editor.exe: segment violation (signal 11).
My question is this, how do others handle these issues and are there other settings under the covers that will allow Arbortext more memory or to process larger files? I am a bit nervous that someday soon we may run into a 600 page document that cannot be handled.
I looked into some of the stylesheet profiling tools - but again with the error message I am seeing - it doesn't tell me what is really happeneing. For reference we are using the APP engine and have a custom schema/stylesheet.
Any advise is welcome.

Arbortext pure virtual function call error
Hello everybody,
I have faced frequently the following error message on my Arbortext Editor:
I have read the posted discussions and tried some interim solutions such as:
- Increased the virtual memory size ;
- Updated the Arbortext version to v 6.0 M090
Even though the error persists.
Any other ideas what is going on?

Java classpath issue with jfxrt.jar in AE 6.1
Hi all,
I'm faced with an issue concerning our Arbortext Editor extension which is written in Java and uses JavaFX 2 for its UI.
My issue is that I need to have jfxrt.jar in the classpath in order for this to work.
Since this jar is part of the runtime since at least Java 1.7 I thought I needed to do nothing to work with the classes defined in this jar, but AE is not seeing them. When I manually add the jar to the classpath using
APTCLASSPATH=D:\Program Files\PTC\Arbortext Editor\bin\x86\jre\lib\jfxrt.jar
Then I can use them.
Is this expected behaviour ?
If so is there a way to add it programmatically ?
I would need to retrieve the Installation path of Arbortext Editor in ACL in order to be able to do this.
I tried "set classpath" and "append_java_classpath", but both did not work.
Any ideas ?

Hotspots in IsoDraw
Is anyone using Isodraw 7.3 to highlight a line with a mouseover or click? If so what might that technique be?
I grouped a set of lines in a schematic, applied a hotspot to the line, and when I enable the hotspots, and view within IsoDraw using IsoView I don't get much in the way of an indication. Lets say one clicks on the line, it flashes briefly and that's it.
Animation doesn't seem to apply because I am not moviing or rotating the line. Also, the imported CAD dwg file does not have any ids for the lines that are imported. Should there be?
Is there any way to get the line to highlight and stay highlighed?
My thought is to export this to WebCGM later.

Different burst configurations for different contents
Hi all,
We have several different projects to create DITA contents.
Those projects have no relation to one another so that we would like to manage them separetely.
We are considering to manage them on ACM by using different burst configurations for each content.
Does anyone have any idea how to set up the burst configuration files and ACM for this purpose?

S1000D PDF output ignores table column dimensions
Ok, I'm using 5.3 and I've created some S1000D PDF output and I've noticed that the tables ignore the column settings. Instead of getting columns of variable width I get columns of equal width.
I have clearly set the columns as follows

However in the output the columns are equally divided between 38 pi, which is chaos. I have content running across cell borders etc.
How can I force the output to use the column widths I've entered?

Graphics disappear when published to Web
I've created a book in Editor and when I publish to PDF the graphics are there, when I publish to Web the grpahics do not appear in html. Any ideas on what the problem could be?
The graphics are jpegs that have been altered in Illustrator to include text and shapes on top of the photo. Then exported as jpeg again.

How to get Styler to open as default (vs Editor)
I used to be able to edit the Windows Registry to have Styler open as the default program for *.xml/*.dita files. However, since Windows 2007, the registry is has changed, so I can't figure-out how to do this "hack" anymore. So, I have to launch Styler first, then open a *.xml/*.dita file. Has anyone figured out how to set Styler as the default program? (I'm on Arbortext 6.1 if that makes any difference).

one server, one vendor, different licenses
We have been trying to install Arbortext S1000D, Publishing Engine, Content Manager, and Editor all on the same server. We have a Virtual Machine setup to host all of these applications, but we are running into the issue of the FlexLM not reading the licenses for Editor or Publishing Engine. Now the licensing info look completely different for S1000D than it does for Editor or Publishing Engine. Can anyone give some advice as to what we need to do?

can't get graphics to appear on screen (FOSI ?)
and since they're not on-screen, they won't appear in print preview either. Everything else works fine - valid SGML no errors.
I have graphic tags and sheet tags, and they have attributes filled in. Graphic entities are defined and the pictures themselves are located in the proper directory. ACL switch graphicdisplay is ON.
But I can't get the graphics to appear on the screen. I can't get the Insert Graphic File dialog box to appear. If I try to add a new graphic or sheet tag, it tells me graphics are not allowed by the DTD. That's preposterous - I'm right next to an existing graphics tag. There are 160 other graphics spread throughout the file.
There has to be some small switch or something? Can someone shed some light on this? FOSI displays everything else correctly on screen (generated text, indentions) how could it do all that and just NOT DISPLAY GRAPHICS?

How to resize images with Styler?
Hello there,
I would like to know the way to resize images in XML document by using Arbortext Styler.
Although I know the way to adjust the size of images in Arbortext Editor with attributes (width, height etc...), I am not keen to use this way.
The images are too big in the document at the moment, so I would like to make them look small through a stylesheet.
Could you give me any tips please?

Looking for more details on ACM support requirements before I buy.
I'm looking into getting Arbortext Content Manager. I've reviewed all the literature, but have more questions, such as:
Is this a simple software install on a web server?
What kind of support would our IT department need to provide? (The Editor is the only PTC product we use---no Windchill experience)
Anyone know approximate price tag?
